Ginger is also believed to have benefits for migraine sufferers. This is because it is believed that ginger can increase blood flow to the head, and this can relieve the effects of a migraine.
Another area where ginger is believed to have beneficial effects is for those who are suffering from upset stomach or heartburn.
One study found that those who took a cup of ginger tea before going to bed reportedly did not suffer from any side effects when they suffered from a mild upset stomach due to a meal that contained strong spices (curry spices).
Studies also suggest that ginger juice is effective in treating common colds. One study reported that a group of elderly subjects drank green tea along with a teaspoonful of ground ginger every day for four weeks.
The results of this test showed that the subjects who took the ginger-tea-and-ginger combination had a decreased number of cold symptoms during the four-week test period. However, the subjects who only took fresh ginger tea were able to lessen the number of cold symptoms.
